  • The program is included in the registration fee, and the application is available during the on-line registration process on the WRFPM 2017 website.

DESCRIPTION

Seongsan Ilchulbong (sunrise peak) rose from under the sea in a volcanic eruption over 100,000 years ago. Located on the eastern end of Jeju Island, there is a huge crater at the top. The crater is about 600m in diameter and 90m high. With the 99 sharp rocks surrounding the crater, it looks like a gigantic crown.

Manjanggul Cave is one of the finest lava tunnels in the world. It has a variety of interesting structures inside including 70cm lava stalagmites and the lava tube tunnels. Only 1km of the 13,422m Manjanggul Cave is open to the tourists. The inside of the tunnel sustains at a temperature of 11~21⁰C, creating a comfortable atmosphere.

DESCRIPTION

Mt. Songaksan is a simple volcano on Jeju Island which has double craters and a parasitic volcano. It makes a shore cliff to the south, and the south part of crater forms a low and flat grassland in front of which lie slopes. Black and red volcanic ash still remains inside the crater. From the observation platform, the southernmost Marado Island and Gapado islet look very close.

Jusangjeolli was formed when the lava from Mt. Hallasan erupted into the sea of Jungmun. They are rock pillars shaped like cubes or hexagons of various. Its 20m cliff makes it a popular spot for high tide, sea angling. The waves of the high tides crashing into the side of the cliff provide a breathtaking view of the ocean surrounding the pillars.

The Kim Young Gap Gallery is a former elementary school turned gallery. Photographer Kim Young Gap, who had been suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease, spent his life capturing the beauty of Jeju Island. He created the gallery during his last days so that he could ensure his works be shared for years to come. The gallery shows the photographer’s artistic passion, and his photos reflect the sublime beauty of Jeju Island, captured day after day in all kinds of weather. Jeju Jeolmul Natural Recreation Forest is located northeast of Hallasan Mountain on Jeju Island. Jeolmul Oreum, the park's main mountain, is famous for its beautiful Japanese cedar forest. Jeolmul Oreum is about 697m high and created by volcanic activity. The peak boasts amazing views. On clear days, it is even possible to see all the way to Seongsan Ilchubong on the east coast of the island.

Spirited Garden is the world’s largest botanical garden with a total landscape of approximately 39,700m². This garden is rich with maple trees, wisterias and pine trees that are between 30 to 300 years old. Roughly 100 rare species of trees are also in the garden. The garden possesses approximately 1,700 trees, and also boasts 100,000 of its Jeju wild flowers, orchids, and other various garden trees and plants which collectively form a unique scenic harmony.

Bonte Museum aims to explore the beauty of humanity through traditional and modern craftworks. Designed by a world-renowned architect Ando Tadao, the museum is a cultural space for the enjoyment of unique architecture, beautiful craftworks and Jeju's picturesque scenery.

DESCRIPTION

Yongmeori Coast looks as if a dragon’s head is going underwater. There are Gulbangs here which are depressed into the shape of rooms, and wide rocks stacking up on one another along the seashore cliffs which create majestic scenery by the sea. You may meet the women sea-divers of Jeju who sell sea cucumbers and stroll on the road that spreads along the seashore.

Jeongbang Waterfalls is the only one falling directly to the sea in Korea. The 23 m-high waterfall has two streams of water. It produces the brisk sounds of water falling along the black wall, creating a splendid scene along with the ocean. Moreover, the neighboring precipitous cliffs and the stately old trees add to the unique scenic view of the waterfall.

With a total of 117 houses and facilities, Jeju Folk Village Museum has restored the scenes of the village to that of the 1890’s. On land of more than 40 acres it has been reconstructed following long-term research and analysis of experts. Visitors can appreciate the amazing scenic beauty of Jeju as well as experience the traditional culture of Jeju at this theme park.

Saryeoni Forest Path streches 15km from Bijarim Path, passing by Mulchat Oreum (parasitic volcano) and connecting to Saryeoni Oreum. Situated 500 to 600m about sea level, Mulchat Oreum is the midway point of the forest, and is where you can find “Walden”, for treatment and meditation. It is a perfect place where you can refresh your exhausted mind.
